King High School or Martin Luther King Jr., Senior High School, has a mission statement of successfully educating all students in a healthy environment making them productive members of society. This is one of the leading high schools in Detroit. It was in 1968 that the school changed its name to Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School after the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. The colours were changed to gold and black and the logo was changed to the Crusaders. This school is well known for its performance in the field of academics, athletics and performing arts.
