Mixcoac was one of the city's earliest settlements, the origins of which date back a thousand years before Christ, when sedentary populations first appeared in the Anáhuac or Valley of Mexico. The area reached its era of splendor with the Aztec civilization between the years 1200 to 1521 of the modern age. The site was once dedicated to the Aztec god Mixcóatl, the Cloud Snake, synonymous with the galaxy we now call the Milky Way. Today, this is one of the colonias or districts with the highest level of developing business infrastructure and living quarters.
