Standing tall at 31 metres in the compound of the Chinese High School is a clock tower built in the 1920s. Designed by the firm Swan and Maclaren, the late Victorian-style monument has symmetrical, full-height Ionic columns and a central portico. Just in front of the tower is a statue of Tan Kah Kee, who founded the school in 1919--the first Chinese secondary school in South-east Asia. The school first operated from a compound in Niven Road and moved to its present location in 1925. Kindly call for an appointment.
