Activities to be enjoyed at this 6,858-acre wilderness park include hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, rock climbing, camping and picnicking. It is home to Little Yosemite, a scenic gorge that resides approximately two miles from the county's largest creek—Alameda Creek. Nature and wildlife education programs, as well as maps and guides of the wilderness are available at the Old Green Barn Visitor Center. Camping in the backpacking area is allowed by permit through the East Bay Park and Recreation Department. To the west of the park is Mission Peak, another regional park that offers excellent views. Mission Peak is accessible from Sunol via the Ohlone Wilderness Trail.
