This town is worth visiting for the historic buildings and the wonderful artwork on display. You’ll see an impressive medieval fortress that was later made into a palace that features both Gothic and Renaissance styles of architecture. It has an attractive cloister with double galleries above. The 16th century collegiate church of the Sacrament is one of the finest buildings in the whole region. It was built in a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance styles with a lovely facade. The Baroque altarpiece features paintings by Lucas Jordán, Pedro el Mudo, Carreño Miranda, and a replica of Caravaggio. The Gothic style choir stalls are a work of art, as is the Baroque organ. The town lies 28km from Toledo, has 10,000 inhabitants and celebrates its local festivals on May 19, September 1 and 22-30. The public bus from Toledo leaves from the Avenida Castilla-La Mancha.
