Forty-five minutes away from Singapore lies Bintan Beach International Resorts— a touristy zone of beach resorts, hotels, chalets and golf courses that are directed mainly towards Singaporean interests. More attractions are currently being developed, from shopping malls, recreation clubs and theme parks to gardens and nature reserves. For a more peaceful retreat, there is the Pasir Panjang beach, a 14km stretch of palm-fringed, pristine sandy shore along the northern coast. Outside the November to March monsoon period, it makes an excellent diving and snorkeling spot, with crystal-clear waters over beautiful coral reefs. Ferries depart from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to arrive at Bandar Bentan Telani ferry terminal. Bookings required 48 hours in advance, and collection of boarding passes 30 minutes before departure.
