Experience the beauty of the New Zealand rural landscape in the time honoured pioneering way, trekking on thoroughbred Clydesdales along rough tracks, and camping in old musterers and shearers' huts. Riding for around six hours a day can be tough, but the rewards make it worthwhile, with spectacular views of the Southern Alps, mountain lakes and rivers. All horses are bred on the 932-hectare property of tour guides, Lawrie and Jenny O'Carroll, and they are sure-footed and easy to ride. Tours range from two hours to 11-day trips with all food supplied.
