To the south of the Mexican capital, there is a large, green area that acts as a much-needed lung for the over-polluted metropolis. This particular ecological project was initiated in 1992 and the main objective was to protect the local fauna and flora, the natural habitat of which is being steadily eroded by the ever-expanding city. The reserve also offers local inhabitants the chance to go jogging and cycling, enjoy countryside walks and even have family picnics. You can rent bikes here, as well as inflatable dinghies to use on the artificial lake. There are also trampolines and a concrete skating ring for the kids. Admission costs just 2 pesos.
