The small area of Rolandswerth is located only a few kilometres from Bonn, in the direction of Koblenz. Ruins of a 12th century castle, Rolandsbogen, can be seen here. You also get a lovely view of the Nonnenwerth island and the Siebengebirge from here. Legend has it that the knight Roland kept a look out on the island for his bride Hildegard, who believed that Roland had been killed in war against Karl the Great. Today, a gourmet restaurant is to be found here, which is well-visited not just for the gorgeous view it offers.
