This museum is home to over 8,000 paintings, sculptures and drawings by American artists, making it one of the largest gatherings of Americana in the world. The collection began with the founding of the National Academy of Design in 1825, which required a donation of art from every member. The museum is located in a 19th century townhouse, which in itself is a work of art. There is also a museum shop where you can buy little knick knacks to commemorate your visit to this wonderful place.
