Northern California has miles of beautiful coastline. If you want to take advantage of the San Francisco Bay Area's proximity to the Pacific Ocean, then you will want to set sail for a special excursion with Great White Adventures. Take a chapter or two from the book of "Jaws" and
enter a cage in scuba gear and plunge into a school of sharks! This is not for the faint-hearted, but a tremendous experience. Great White Adventures offers unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime trips to exotic destinations including the Farallon Islands, Isla Guadalupe, Fiji, and the Galapagos. Cage dive into the open Pacific waters and observe various species of sharks up close and personal. State-of-the-art equipment is used and safety is priority. Trips range from $775 for 1-day dives to $2875 for week-long expeditions. Check out website for full details along with a complete schedule of upcoming adventures. Great White Adventures also works with the Marin County-based Marine Mammal Center in situations where the company's underwater expertise is needed. In a case where a 45-50 ton Humpback Whale was ensnared in hundreds of feet of crab fishing nets, off the North Coast's Farallon Islands, and close to death, a company diver undertook the delicate task of cutting this great creature free. This is not the normal activity of Great White Adventures but it is indicative of their strong connection with the sea.
