This yearly competition, organised by the Secretaría de Marina Armada de México, takes place during the month of March. It consists of drawing or painting (using any technique) topics related to the sea, including aquatic animals, fishing activities, etc. Awards for the first three places consist of trips to the naval bureau's headquarters (at Veracruz, Tabasco, Mazatlán). All works are exhibited in the corridors of Secretaría's main building. Admission is free. Children between 4 and 11 years of age usually participate in this contest.
