With rock and pop featuring on the music charts, old forms like jazz are slowly perishing. SFJAZZ is a no-profit organization dedicated to the cause of preserving such music. This organization puts on various jazz events all year long such as the San Francisco Jazz Festival, SFJAZZ Summerfest and the SFJAZZ Spring Season Festival, to encourage the growth of Jazz in San Francisco and other parts of the United States. The performers pay tributes to famous jazz masters and celebrate the festivals. Held at various venues, including Herbst Theatre, the Green Room, Palace of Fine Arts, Nob Hill Masonic Center, Legion of Honor's Gould Theatre, Grace Cathedral, the Great American Music Hall, Bimbo's 365 Club, the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
