Seokjeondaeje Memorial Rite constitutes one of Korea's most important sacred rituals in honor of Confucius and 27 revered sages, and they are performed twice a year, in March and September. To the accompaniment of a traditional court orchestra, officials dressed in full court regalia conduct the solemn and splendid rite at the Confucius Shrine (Daeseongjeon Hall) at Sungkyunkwan University. The Seokjeondaeje Memorial Rite, was first observed in AD372, promotes love and respect for others and the restoration of Confucian virtues and morals.
