May Day used to rival Easter in importance and it is still a big event at the Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans, with thousands of people packing the open air site over the entire bank holiday weekend. The erection of the Maypole and traditional dancing form the highlight of the weekend, but there's much more to see including an arts and craft fair, pottery workshop, Welsh folk music and plenty of games and activities for children and adults alike. The event takes place each year on the weekend after May 1.
