It has been called the most elegant affair in the city. More than 12,000 San Franciscans come together dressed in either black, white or both, to dance to live music (from rock to classical), drink fine wine, eat gourmet food and show their support for the San Francisco Symphony. Proceeds from this black-tie event benefit the many symphony programs. The Ball is usually held at the Embarcadero Center on the waterfront. This is a pricey event (USD150-200 per person depending on when you purchase), and you must purchase tickets in advance, but an evening spent at the Black and White Ball is magically unforgettable. It is held annually during the spring.
