Named for the wife of the Marquess of Bute, whose family owned the grounds when it was first used for recreation in the 19th century, Sophia Gardens has been home to Glamorgan cricket since 1967. Many famous cricket games have been played on these grounds, and the grounds themselves have seen many improvements over the years, including new lights and a new pavilion.
