A rather conventional part of town for the enfant terrible of the fashion world to base his own shop but, rest assured, that the anti-fashion fashion designer won't be tamed by the respectability of his current base. Full of eccentricity (bones in clothes) and contradiction (the seemingly down-to-earth East End taxi driver's son had liposuction), McQueen is a true fashion innovator known as much for his outlandish designs as his shock tactics on the runway - a man of such prodigious talent that he has already be named British Designer of the Year three times. Even given the dilution necessary to operate a commercial store, his designs are striking and severe with slinky jersey dresses in beige and lemon, molded patent leather pants and skinny dresses all being given his unique touch. Even if you don't intend buying (and very few of you will be able to - McQueen originals do not come cheap) the store is worth checking out for its amazing window displays alone, which, in the past, have featured models posing in simulated snowstorms.
