An Italian would feel right at home in this cozy bakery. The display case in the tiny space at Danilo Bakery is full of biscotti and cannoli and the shelves along the wall are piled high with dense, chewy and satisfying loaves of bread, including an Italian corn bread made with yeast that is lighter than the American product but just as homey. There is a regular clientèle of Italian-speaking locals who drop by as well as a regular stream of tourists discovering just how good amaretti can be when eaten freshly baked. The ladies who work here are charming too.
