When this attraction opened in December 1930, it was intended to generate income that would boost local development. There are various rooms and sections on the premises, including panels of the ever-present slot machines, a restaurant, a tearoom, a concert hall, a discotheque and of course, the main casino area. There are facilities to suit all tastes and budgets. Certain sections, including the main casino, are formal-dress only. On the outside the tone is classical, painted in soft pastel colours. On the inside, each room and section is strictly formal, with the emphasis placed on creating elegant effects. The Casino restaurant looks to Italy for its inspiration, offering such delicacies as the Tortellini di Pecce with Prawn Sauce, Fillet coated in Leeks with Cream of Mushroom Sauce, or a rather filling Sirloin Steak, cooked on a charcoal grill, and served in a Red Wine and Rosemary Sauce.
