San Francisco Art Institute Galleries designed to look like a converted monastery of some antiquity, actually date back to only 1926. Forty years later, the rooftop deck was added from which you can see a great deal of the city, including the Coit Tower and Twin Peaks. The Diego Rivera gallery contains a mural by Diego Rivera and a strong collection of student work. The Walter McBean gallery includes contemporary works by established and emerging artists.
