The Esplanades amazing 1920s art deco elegance received a much-needed facelift recently which enhanced the idiosyncratic charm of this beautiful structure. The restoration also left more opulently furnished rooms to match the magnificent lobby and splendid French restaurant below. The hotel attracts visitors more interested in counting the hours to their next opera or gallery exhibition than to their next business meeting. Nestled between two busy stretches, Wenceslas Square and the main train station, it is handy for taking in the sights in the centre, but choosing a room towards the back of the hotel is a good idea.
