The Armada doesn’t score many points for its seedy location, even though it is only a ten-minute walk up the hill to historical Sultanahmet where all the sights are. Despite this, most of the rooms have fabulous Bosphorus views. The 120-room Armada is well designed and manages to avoid stereotypical four-star blandness. An attractive lobby area with a little pond and café make guests feel at home, and the rooms, although they’re not exceptional, are very comfortable. If you can’t stretch your budget to luxurious five star accommodations, then this is definitely one of the best options south of the Bosphorus.
