The Ayasofya Hotel was constructed as a private home in the 19th century. In 1980, the derelict building was torn down and rebuilt in its original Ottoman style. This attractive wooden edifice now houses 21 large, bright, airy rooms decorated with white and cream linen and lace. Since it opened in July 1990, it has offered its international guests traditional Turkish hospitality. Centrally located in the Old City, the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and the Hippodrome. A relic of the past with the charm of an old Ottoman house, the Ayasofya Hotel also offers a full range of mod cons.
