The Avila is an older hotel, founded in the 1940s by Nelson Rockefeller. The hotel is surrounded by quiet, floral gardens which provide a welcome relief from the gray concrete of the capital. The landscaped lawns are host to a jogging path, and an on site gym and pool are also available. There is a dining area beside the pool and all the rooms have balconies, many of which offer a splendid view of Mount Avila.
