A home away from home
I return to this hotel on frequent visits to India. The staff, from room cleaners, to the front desk, to the men who open the front door are unfailingly courtious and may hope for a tip, but do not have their hands out. I store luggage there while taking trips across India (never a problem). I've enjoyed breakfast conversations with young and old European travelers, some of whom have become friends, The rooms are quite varied in decor. If you're unhappy with the room assigned you, don't hesitate to ask for another. If you're in a double, my favorite would be the back rooms overlooking the old Muslim city. Just down the street is the Delhi Gate, the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk a short three-wheeler away (20 rupees). The train station is also convenient, but the baggage handlers exort a high fee and the taxi cab drivers likewise. Use the police taxi station to hire a cab to ensure excellent service---forty rupees to the Broadway is more or less standard. This is the publishing district of Delhi. On Sundays enjoy block after block of books laid out on the sidewalks just down from the Broadway. This is not a "paid" appreciation of the Broadway, instead, I believe, one richly deserved, My wife and I traveling together and separately have stayed there for some twenty years now. It is one of the reliable pleasures for us, of feeling safe and comfortable in India---a much more pleasurable experience in the old district of Delhi, than the new---no touts, you will not be bothered as tourists in this area. I suggest skirtting the Muslim living and shopping lanes, unbelievably winding and difficult to navigagte. Head for the Red Fort and the Chandni Chowk streets and don't miss the old Jalabi (candy) walla, a fair walk up the street (on the left at a corner) who has been there since olden times..

Shocking noisy hotel
If you are a tourist from Australia do not stay at this hotel. The staff put us in rooms at the rear of the hotel next to the external kitchen exhaust fan when turned on shook the whole room until 2am so be warned there are better hotels around

We will not be returning for sure!
The Broadway Hotel in old Delhi, location is on a very busy and noisy street. The interior of the rooms are very poorly conditioned, unclean, and reaks of a foul odor. The workers within the hotel will try to cheat you if you are a tourist, so beware. I suggest a 4 or 5 star hotel instead of this one, the extra money for a better hotel is worth every penny.
