Built nearly a century ago and once a favorite with Egyptologists, this faded pension is now frequented by students and backpackers and a few older clients who do not mind the somewhat inconvenient arrangements. The rooms are basic but clean and some have Nile views. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel restaurant is a great place to meet other travelers. Rates below are for rooms with bathrooms; if you do not mind sharing, you can enjoy even lower rates.
