The entrance may look like part of Cairo’s centuries-old bazaar, but this hotel in the heart of Khan el-Khalili dates back just a few decades. The foyer is impressively decorated in dark woodwork with Islamic motifs, but the rooms are rather plain and a little rough around the edges. They do however, offer fantastic peeks at the busy alleyways below, which recreate scenes from Arabian Nights. Definitely worth considering if you want to feel the pulse of Islamic Cairo and don’t mind the constant noise.
