This place is a picture of cool sophistication although some find its atmosphere slightly stuffy. Whatever, it's setting, near the harbour in Hotwells and its acclaimed menu makes it a perfect place for a special meal - it's certainly got plenty of devotees. The menu consists of classic English and French dishes such as fillet of beef with stilton and celeriac mousse and marinated venison with cranberry and redcurrant. Desserts are equally delightful and include apple and raisin brulee and mulled-wine poached pears. The wine list is French-dominated and contains many organic varieties.
