Handy to Christchurch Airport and bordering the pretty Groynes riverside picnic area, aptly-named Rosebank is the closest winery to the centre of Christchurch. Surrounded by rose bushes, the former dairy farm, family-owned, winery has a large restaurant and pleasant outdoor eating area. A few vines are planted on the property, but most of the grapes are grown in other parts of Canterbury and Marlborough. Quality, ready-to-drink Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Noir wines are produced by the winery--their Chardonnay is particularly good. Enjoy Sunday lunch here, followed by a stroll down by the river.
