This traditional Feria de la Nuez de Castilla Nut Fair of Castile takes place every year in the nearby town of Amecameca de Juárez. For a whole week, various events take place, including theatre, Guelaguetza (a traditional dance from the Oaxaca region), symphonic orchestra, dances held in the street, and last but not least, the exhibition and sale of all types of nuts and dishes derived from this nutritional source: a true squirrel's paradise. Delicacies include such plates as chiles en nogada (stuffed chili peppers bathed in a ground-nut sauce). There are also handicrafts for sale at quite reasonable prices, and an exhibition of works by students of the San Carlos Painting Academy. There is no admission fee and parking facilities are available.
