Step off the Metro at Tynemouth on any Saturday or Sunday and you will find yourself in the midst of one of the busiest flea markets on Tyneside. Set in the (partially) restored splendour of Tynemouth's Victorian railway station, this covered market is a joy for those seeking largely second-hand bargains. Stalls include books, videos, records, compact discs, household bric-a-brac, clothes, pictures and prints, militaria, china, furniture, crafts, flowers, homemade confectionery, you name it and it will probably be there. Remember to haggle for the best price and get there early for some serious bargains! There is a farmers market on the third Saturday of every month, and book fairs on occasional Sundays.
