Escape from the malls and browse on the bridge! Every Sunday you'll find colourful displays of local crafts compete with vertiginous views of Jesmond Dene - all this and refreshments too! Sip your tea as you stroll by the stalls: goods range from skilfully turned wooden platters to amazing pottery in compelling colours. Also wooden furniture, mirrors, jewellery, leather belts and bags, and framed photographs and paintings. You will even find paintings of Armstrong bridge itself. Child-friendly (no traffic) and parent friendly (plenty of pocket-money prices), this is the craft market with a difference. If you prefer not to think of shopping as a leisure activity, you can always say you were there for the fresh air and the views.
