Bath taxis come in all shapes and sizes from four-door Escorts to sixteen-seater coaches as well as the famous 'Black Cabs'. All taxis are clearly marked with a sign on the roof and drivers are obliged to display their permits on the dashboard. There are two main taxi ranks in Bath, both centrally located. The first is at Bath Spa Railway Station and the second is in Orange Grove, close to the Abbey. Drivers are not permitted to pick up passengers in the streets. Fares: Expect to pay a minimum of GBP1.40 during the day - slightly more after 10p and at weekends. A one way trip to Bristol Airport will cost GBP30 with most companies. If you are not fond of queueing, taxis can be booked in advance. This is highly recommended for travel during peak hours and is generally slightly cheaper. Tipping: This is a personal choice. If you choose to tip your driver it is acceptable to round the fare up to the nearest pound.
