There are three types of taxis in Rio: the standard taxis (yellow), the special taxis with varying fares (radio-taxis) and special fixed-fare taxis. Standard taxis can be found circulating all over the city, or awaiting passengers on predefined areas like hotels, airports and high-traffic areas like opposite the Avenida Central building at the City Centre. Those areas are sign-posted.
