Using taxis to get around on the island, depending upon your itinerary, could wind up being more expensive than simply renting a car. However, transport by taxi is more convenient as many establishments have inadequate parking facilities. Fares are fixed by the government at USD3 for the first quarter-mile and US cents 40 per subsequent mile regardless if the vehicle is a van, limo, or regular cab. Additional passengers are USD3/person. Be aware of these rates as it is illegal to charge otherwise.
