If you want to travel by car to Honduras, it is not usually possibly to cross international borders with rented vehicles. However, if you want to move on from San José to Tegucigalpa, you have two alternate options: bus or plane. This is a bus service that is both efficient and reliable and is well worth considering if you are looking for an inexpensive way to travel. Buses leave for Tegucigalpa at 6a and 7:30a and arrive about 48 hours later, with a change in Managua. Depending on how well you travel, you may want to pack some bottled water or at least some water purifying tablets to avoid any unwanted travel sickness along the way.
