The absence of a monopoly in the realm of bus transport in Costa Rica keeps prices low, but it can be confusing figuring out where you should catch a bus, most of which simply stop at a predesignated spot. You can check where on this site, or get detailed information from the Instituto Costariccense de Turismo. The bus service is efficient, but you might feel hot and dusty after a long trip, so do not forget to bring bottled water to drink.
