Ferries are a part of life for those living across the island of Mumbai in Alibaug or Vashi. These boats are also hired to visit Elephanta Caves. They are the cheapest and the best mode of transport, to the beaches and the islands nearby. Apart from the ferries, a unique mode of transport to Vashi and Navi Mumbai is the super-fast Hovercraft from the Gateway of India. The ferry charges to go to Elephanta Caves are nominal and there is also another terminus here where one can get boats on hire to nearby places such as Alibaug, Rewas and Mandwa.
