Located six miles north of San Jose del Cabo, this airport is the international and domestic entrance to Los Cabos, serving both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. About 30 flights per day land here, including direct flights from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Newark, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver. Comprised of two terminals several hundred yards apart, both terminals are tiny and two-storied. The first story of each holds ticket counters, belly-up bars and rental car agents. The second story of each offers access to gates, duty-free shops and a food court. Parking is plentiful, directly in front of each terminal and free of charge. Shuttles, taxis and rental cars are available. The shuttle service agents, easily spotted by their all green uniforms and green vans, offer one-way trips to your destination in Cabo San Lucas for USD 12-15. If arranging transfer through your hotel, you will likely be riding with the aforementioned shuttle bus service. Rental car agencies are on airport property but away from the terminal. Agents will be outside the baggage claim area and available to drive you to your preferred rental company. Walking and taxi are the only options at present to transfer from terminal to terminal. Both terminals offer food courts that include cocktail bars. All visitors must present proof of citizenship upon arrival, and their Mexican Tourist Permit (carry this with you at all times). These permits are handed out onboard arriving flights, then surrendered to officials upon departure from Mexico. Be aware that timeshare salespeople will approach you at the airport with offers of free transportation, discounts on activities and more. If you accept their services, you will be expected to listen to their sales pitch. For such a small airport, it is very traveler-friendly and offers ATMs located outside the baggage claim area. This is a great opportunity to get your pesos at the best exchange rate with the utmost of convenience. If meeting friends at the airport, be sure to know their carrier so that you wait in the appropriate terminal.
