All cruise ships entering the Grand Bahamas dock at Port Lucaya. This port handles up to six cruise ships per day but is also the main harbor for all commercial vessels coming into Freeport. The port has undergone extensive renovations in the last five years and now includes the Port Lucaya Marketplace with more than 30 restaurants and 80 shops and boutiques, many offering international labels at duty-free prices. Close by is the Port Lucaya Straw Market, where local vendors sell handmade straw wares and other items. Within walking distance is the luxurious Port Lucaya Resort with a tropical garden, pool, grocery store, bars, restaurants and water sport facilities. Taxis are readily available for tours of downtown or surrounding areas. The city is approximately 30 minutes away, while the Freeport International Airport is 10 minutes away.
