Let's hope that nothing will go wrong during your stay in San José - but it is always worthwhile being prepared. If your passport is stolen you must report the loss immediately, both to the police and to your embassy. If you have to file a report with the police for whatever reason, be prepared for the paperwork to take some time and try not to get frustrated. If your Spanish is not perfect, it might be wise to bring along a Spanish-speaking friend.
