Non-residents of the UK are entitled to emergency treatment only and so would not normally register with a doctor but use the Accident and Emergency Department at the University Hospital instead. You may register with a doctor as a temporary resident if you are staying with relatives or friends, or if you are working and paying UK national insurance. It is worth doing this as soon as you arrive in the city to save time and paperwork if you find you need medical treatment. If you are staying in one of the larger hotels, you may find they have their own arrangement with a private doctor. The Totalcardiff website has a list of doctors and their locations, alternatively a full list may be found in the Yellow Pages under Doctors.
