Back in 1987 when Deep Ellum was still a place—where you could literally see the Dixie Chicks playing for spare change on the street corners and Vanilla Ice valeting cars at a nearby club—the Deep Ellum Café opened it’s doors. This served starving musicians and the tragically hip with good cooking at reasonable prices in a great atmosphere. Here diners can witness the evening fashion parade of Deep Ellum or in the more sedate back courtyard with it’s vine covered walls and fountain.
