If you've never had Russian food before, take the advice of your sommelier when it comes to pairing your meal with a beverage. For instance, the salty Fish Platter (one of many delightful appetizers) is meant to be paired with white wine, as the wine serves to cut the salt. For dinner, try the hearty Galubtsy (ground meat cooked and rolled up in a cabbage leaf), or the sour cream and red caviar-filled blintzes. For dessert, pairing food and beverage again comes into play as the traditional cherry-filled dumplings with an alcohol-based sauce are quite sweet, but the wise diner knows to cut the sweetness with a nice cup of coffee. Service is excellent, dishes are traditional, prices are low and this is definitely not ideal fare for vegetarians!
