A downtown favorite for 20 years, Le Central claims the distinction of being The City's oldest bistro. It is certainly one of the most charming ones, with its brick walls, intimate atmosphere, and classic provincial menu. Roast Chicken with Pommes Frites, a dish served in nearly every brasserie in Paris, can be found here, as can Filet Mignon au Poivre. The wine list is elaborate with an emphasis on French vintages. The service is excellent.
